For Alice Mott

"Mott" is hot
that's not a plot
its a name that's got
a shining spot
of distinction.

For its spelling I've fought
an awful lot
and "Matt" I've caught
in its place for years
in others ears (in speech)
and eyes (on paper).

With the shape and form of a lightening stroke
its a clear fast "Mott!"
and did you know
that the sound of a
lighting stroke
is "Zot!"?

Enough of this rot
I'll not
continue on, just jot
in a parting shot
my goodbye, from
